A chart you draw on
Software draws a Gantt chart for you and then asks you to maintain it. This one is printed empty, put on a wall, and shaded in with a highlighter — which is why the rows are tall enough to write a name in and the columns are wide enough for a marker.
The unit changes the headings
Days get weekday letters with the weekend shaded, so a three-week plan does not read as twenty-one identical boxes. Weeks are numbered. Months take their names. The headings change with the unit because "1 2 3 4 5 6 7" in a narrow column is not a readable axis.
Owner and due date
Two narrow columns between the task name and the grid. A bar tells you when; it does not tell you who, and a plan without a name against each row is a wish list.
