Get the ruling right and check the scale

Ruled paper is only useful at the right spacing, and the difference between a 5mm and a 7mm line matters much more to a child's handwriting than it does to an adult's. Every sheet here lets you set the spacing directly rather than picking from a handful of presets, and the PDFs are generated at true size.

One thing to watch when printing: leave your printer dialog on 100% or "actual size" rather than "fit to page". Scaling to fit shrinks the page by a few percent to make room for the printer's unprintable margin, which is invisible on lined paper and very much not invisible on graph paper you intend to measure against.

Beyond graph and lined

The grid family covers square, dot, isometric (both grid and dot), hexagonal, triangular and polar, plus log-log and semi-log for anyone plotting on a logarithmic axis, and engineering paper. Several sheets share the same underlying grid but answer a different need, cross-stitch and knitting charts, perler bead layouts, latch hook canvas, quilting hexagons, floor plans, map grids and RPG battle maps all want a square or hex grid at a specific scale, and it is quicker to open the one built for the job.

For writing, there are structured note formats, Cornell notes, two- and three-column layouts, steno pads and ledger paper, as well as language-specific rulings that are hard to find elsewhere: French Seyès, Japanese genkō yōshi, and Chinese character practice grids.

Music, comics and labels

Musicians get blank staves, guitar, bass and ukulele tab, drum notation, chord charts and blank piano keyboards. Anyone drawing gets comic layouts in four, six and nine panels, manga templates, storyboards and a perspective grid. There is also a small run of practical templates, address and file folder labels, jar and pantry labels, storage bin labels, blank invoices, calendars and seating charts, which are the sheets people tend to need once and want immediately.
