What this tool does
A grid of small Valentine cards with dashed cut lines, a heart motif and a message. Type a class list and each card gets a name on its To line, running onto as many pages as the class needs, so a child can hand out thirty cards without writing thirty names.

The thirty-card problem
Most schools that do Valentine cards ask for one for every child in the class, and most of the work is writing the names. Paste the class list into the box and the generator does it: each card gets the next name on its To line, the From line carries whatever you typed, and the pages keep coming until the list is used up. Eight cards to a page, thirty names, four pages, done.
Messages
Pick a message from the list (Happy Valentine's Day, You are a great friend, Glad you are in my class) or type your own, up to forty characters. The text sizes itself to the card. Keep it short on the twelve-per-page layout; those cards are business-card sized.
Three looks
Three hearts, a heart with an arrow through it, or a plain double-ruled frame for the child to decorate. Print in colour for pink and red, or untick colour and the hearts print as outlines to colour in, which is the better choice for a class activity and for a printer that only does black.
Sizes
Six cards a page are the largest, close to a playing card; eight is the usual; twelve is small and quick. All three have dashed cut lines and a small margin inside them so a slightly wobbly cut still leaves a clean card.
Paper
Ordinary paper is fine for a classroom exchange. Light card looks better and survives being carried home in a bag. Print at 100 percent so the cards come out the size the layout intends.

Quick answers
How does the class list work?
One name per line. Cards are filled in order, one name each, and extra pages are added until every name has a card. Leave the box empty for blank To lines.
Can I write my own message?
Yes, type anything up to forty characters. The list of suggestions is only a starting point.
How many cards per page?
Six, eight or twelve. Six are the biggest and twelve the smallest.
Will it print in black and white?
Untick Print in colour and the hearts become outlines to colour in, with the text in black.
Is the From line filled in?
If you type a name in From, yes, on every card. Leave it empty for a line to sign.
