Print Your Own Gift Tags and Labels in Seconds
Run out of gift tags the night before a birthday? This free printable gift tags and labels generator lays out a full page of tags or labels you can cut out, write on, and tie to any present. Choose the gift-tag style for a classic hang tag with a punch hole for ribbon and pre-printed To and From lines, or switch to the label style for clean bordered rectangles with ruled writing lines. Export the PDF in A4 or US Letter, print on plain paper or card stock, and you are done.
Because every tag comes out of the same branded template, the type, margins and finish match the rest of the planners library — so your tags look tidy and consistent every time.
Gift tags vs labels — which to pick
The two styles cover most everyday needs:
- Gift tag — a hang tag with a small punch-hole circle at the top for ribbon or string, an accent strip, your heading, and ruled To and From lines. Perfect for birthdays, Christmas, weddings and party favours.
- Label — a bordered rectangle with a heading band and one to four ruled writing lines. Use it for jars, lunchboxes, storage boxes, classroom trays, file folders and homemade jam.
Both styles tile neatly across the page with optional dashed cut guides running through the gutters, so cutting them apart with scissors or a guillotine is quick and straight.
What you can customise
- Style: gift tag (with punch hole and To/From) or label (with ruled lines).
- Heading: free text printed on every tag — a name, an occasion, or a category such as "Spices" or "Toys".
- Columns: 2 to 4 across the page.
- Rows: 2 to 6 down the page.
- Writing lines (label mode): 1 to 4 ruled lines per label.
- Cut guides: dashed lines between cells, on or off.
- Paper size: A4 or US Letter.
A 3-by-4 grid gives twelve tags per page; bump it to 4 by 6 for twenty-four smaller tags when you have a lot of presents to label.
Worked example
Priya is wrapping twelve party-bag gifts for her daughter's birthday. She picks the gift-tag style, types "Happy Birthday!" as the heading, sets a 3-by-4 grid, and leaves cut guides on. She prints the page on light card, cuts along the dashed lines, punches the ribbon holes a touch wider with a hole punch, and writes each child's name on the To line. Twelve matching tags, done in five minutes for the cost of one sheet of card.
The following week she switches to the label style with two writing lines and the heading "Pantry" to make jar labels for her batch of homemade chutney.

Methodology — what the template draws
The page is divided into an even grid of cells with small gutters between them. In gift-tag mode each cell gets a bordered tag body, a coloured accent strip across the top, a punch-hole circle centred in the strip for ribbon, your heading, and two ruled lines labelled To and From. In label mode each cell gets a bordered rectangle with a heading band and the chosen number of evenly spaced ruled writing lines. When cut guides are enabled, faint dashed lines run down and across the gutters so you can cut straight without a ruler.
Everything is produced by the shared branded PDF template, so the header, footer and watermark match every other PrintablesWorld printable. Print at 100% scale for accurate tag sizes.
Printing tips
- Print gift tags on light card stock so they hold their shape and survive the ribbon.
- For jar and pantry labels, print on adhesive label sheets or use a glue stick.
- Punch the ribbon holes slightly wider than the printed circle for thicker ribbon.
- Keep printer scaling at 100% ("Actual size") so the grid stays aligned with your cuts.
- Use the dashed cut guides with a craft knife and metal ruler for perfectly straight edges.
Designed for A4 and US Letter printing
The grid reflows to fill either A4 or US Letter cleanly, so tags and labels stay evenly sized whichever paper you use. Choose the paper size that matches your printer's default tray for the best results.

FAQs
Quick answers
What is the difference between the tag and label styles?
The gift-tag style draws a hang tag with a punch-hole circle for ribbon and pre-printed To and From lines. The label style draws a bordered rectangle with a heading band and one to four ruled writing lines, ideal for jars, boxes and lunchboxes.
How many tags or labels fit on one page?
You choose. Set 2 to 4 columns and 2 to 6 rows — a 3-by-4 grid gives twelve per page, and 4 by 6 gives twenty-four.
Can I cut them out neatly?
Yes. Turn on dashed cut guides and faint lines run through the gutters between cells so you can cut straight with scissors or a craft knife.
Can I print on card or label sheets?
Absolutely. Print gift tags on light card stock so they survive the ribbon, and print labels on adhesive label sheets or stick them with a glue stick. Keep scaling at 100% so the grid lines up with your cuts.
