Build fluency with skip counting

Skip counting — counting in steps of 2, 5, 10, or any number — is the bridge to multiplication, number patterns, and times tables. This generator makes worksheets of counting sequences with some numbers blanked out for the student to fill in. You set the step, how long each sequence is, how many blanks to leave, and whether to count forwards or backwards. An answer key is generated for fast marking.

Why skip counting matters

Counting in 2s, 5s, and 10s lays the groundwork for multiplication: counting in 5s is the five times table in disguise. Backwards skip counting strengthens subtraction and number-line sense. How many numbers are missing?
