What to print in the first week
The opening week of term is mostly diagnosis. You are trying to find out what survived the holidays, and a stack of graded worksheets is a slow way to do it. One mixed arithmetic page, one handwriting sample and one word puzzle will tell you more in twenty minutes than a formal assessment, because children treat them as activities rather than tests.
Name tracing and all-about-me sheets do a different job in that same week, they get everyone writing something they cannot get wrong, which matters for anyone who arrives anxious.
Set the difficulty low, then climb
Almost every sheet here lets you set the range, the number of questions and the difficulty before you print. It is worth starting a notch below where you expect the class to be. A first sheet that everyone finishes establishes that these are doable; a first sheet that half the room stalls on establishes the opposite, and that impression is hard to shift later in the term.
Once you know where people are, the same generators will produce a harder version with the settings changed and nothing else redone.
Bundle it into one pack
Rather than printing these one at a time, the Build a workbook button above loads the whole set into the Workbook Builder, where you can reorder pages, delete the ones you do not want, add a cover with the class name, and download it as a single PDF. For a start-of-term pack that goes home with everyone, that is one print job instead of a dozen.
